What is Hosting?

Hosting can be hard to understand, especially if you’re not a web pro and just want the fastest, easiest way to get your business online. Put simply, hosting is space you rent on a server that’s connected to the web. It’s what makes your site available around the world. Without a hosting plan, no one can see your site because it’s just sitting on your computer like all your other files.

Hosting is basically a Computer that’s left on 24 Hours a day, 7 days a week with your website loaded on it. This is how people can gain access to your website even when your computer is switched off. It is a service by which you rent some space from the company as like a land and created your website on that space as like a home. So, you have to pay rent for that amount of space.

The next question is generally “What type of hosting do I need?” This depends a lot on your website – how many visitors you have (or want to have), what type of content you’re hosting, even how your site was built.

Hosting is something you do require if you going to run a website. Hosting service costs usually vary from $2 - $9 per month.

Some famous hosting service providers are:   GoDaddy, Hostgator, Bigrock, Namecheap etc.

For convenience we are using Godaddy as our Hosting service provider example.

Buying a suitable Hosting service from Godaddy

  • Type www.godaddy.com in the address bar and press Enter.

  • From their Home page you can find the latest attractive plans.

hosting and ssl

  • Click on Hosting and SSL from the top menu bar.

  • Then in Hosting you have two options of Web Hosting and WordPress hosting:

-           WordPress Hosting/Blog: Perfect for bloggers, designers, developers and companies who work with agencies. Built from the ground up to maximize the performance of WordPress sites and blogs, this hosting plan automates many of the time-consuming tasks so you have more time to design your site and keep it fresh. (Though you can also install WordPress or Migrate WordPress manually)

-           Web Hosting: Perfect for most individuals and small businesses. Several sites live together on a single server, each one with its own private space. Since most sites only require a tiny fraction of a server’s resources at any given moment, dozens – sometimes hundreds – of sites can successfully share the ‘utilities’ on a single server.

  • We choose the general Web hosting option for example which also support your blog and WordPress installation. The difference is that the WordPress hosting is carved for WordPress only which gives more speed and reliability.

  • Compare the plans by clicking on the Compare plans button

Plans.        * The plans may vary due to the official website plans and price up-gradation.

  • GoDaddy offers four plans which are:

  • Starter

  • Economy

What is a server?

Basically, it’s a large, powerful computer that’s connected to a network so it can ‘serve’ files, such as web pages, to multiple users at once. When selecting a server, there are a lot of options to choose from, even within a single plan. Here’s a quick snapshot of our products to help you get up to speed.

Dedicated Server: Just as its name implies, our Dedicated Servers give you an entire server to yourself to set up and manage however you see fit.

Your very own single-tenant virtual machine. Linux and Windows distributions to meet any of the performance demands you can throw at it.

  • Perfect for high-traffic or resource-intensive sites that need complete control.

Dedicated IP: More of an add-on for smaller hosting plans, a Dedicated IP is exactly as it sounds: An IP address that’s exclusive to you. Like a dedicated server, the name says it all. While most sites share their server’s IP address, a Dedicated IP is 100% yours and yours alone. If you need to access your domain name when it might not otherwise be available, like during domain propagation periods, a Dedicated IP is the simplest, most affordable solution.

  • Perfect for anyone who needs access to their site, even during DNS propagation periods.

Managed VPS (Virtual Private Server): A great option for budget-minded businesses. Similar to a Dedicated Server in power and flexibility, but with a little less control and a lower price tag. A server with the resources and hosting plans that scale. You have all of the performance, Linux and Windows distributions, and the flexibility of a Dedicated server.

  • Perfect for high-traffic sites, developers and creative agencies

What is a Domain name?

Domain name is simply a specific address among the millions of address which all the running websites have. By this Domain name or say specific address, you can find the required website which you searched. A domain name is basically the title of a website with www before it and .com after it (though it vary). Once again a domain name is something you do require if you are going to run a website. Domain name costs vary $2-$13 per year.

Try to keep the Domain name small, easy and understandable.
